KLS HUMAN ENSEMBLE

A Dance Company Born in New Caledonia, Open to the World

KLS Human Ensemble is a contemporary and neoclassical dance company founded in New Caledonia by choreographer and artistic director Sthan KABAR-LOUËT, a former dancer with Béjart Ballet Lausanne.

Born from a longstanding artistic and human journey developed through L’Avant-Scène Centre de Danse in Nouméa, the company is driven by a clear ambition: to create compelling choreographic works rooted in the human and cultural realities of the South Pacific while establishing a meaningful presence on the international stage.

A Legacy of Artistic Creation and Education

KLS Human Ensemble builds upon more than twenty years of Sthan KABAR-LOUËT’s commitment to choreography, artistic education and the development of dance projects in New Caledonia and internationally.

Founded in 2015, L’Avant-Scène has progressively nurtured generations of dancers through rigorous training in classical, neoclassical and contemporary dance.

This experience inspired the creation of an ensemble of performers united by a shared artistic vision, offering dancers trained in New Caledonia the opportunity to move beyond the educational environment and participate in ambitious professional stage productions.

Today, KLS Human Ensemble brings together nine female dancers who share a commitment to technical excellence, individual expression and collective artistic exploration.

An Artistic Vision Rooted in Humanity

Through its creations, KLS Human Ensemble explores some of the most pressing questions facing contemporary societies: memory, identity, human vulnerability, social upheaval, resilience and the connections that unite individuals across cultural and geographical boundaries.

The company’s choreographic language emerges from the dialogue between contemporary dance and neoclassical movement, placing emotional expression and the expressive power of the human body at the heart of its artistic approach.

Beyond aesthetic exploration, each creation seeks to become a space for reflection, shared experience and meaningful dialogue with audiences.

The Silent Cry of the Flowers: A First Step onto the International Stage

The company’s first major production, The Silent Cry of the Flowers (Le Cri muet des fleurs), was inspired by the events that profoundly affected New Caledonia in May 2024.

Performed by nine dancers, this approximately 90-minute choreographic work unfolds through a series of interconnected scenes exploring individual and collective trauma, loss, memory, resilience and the human capacity to rediscover hope.

Following performances in New Caledonia in July 2026, the production reached an important milestone with its Australian presentation at the Thomas Dixon Centre in Brisbane, home of Queensland Ballet, on 29 and 30 August 2026.

This first Australian experience marked a significant step in the company’s international development, opening new opportunities for artistic cooperation, cultural exchange and international touring.

Building an International Future

Following this experience, KLS Human Ensemble is developing its presence on European stages, particularly through an international touring project planned for October 2027.

Artistic collaborations and presenting partnerships have been established with cultural institutions and theatres in Croatia, Italy and Montenegro, including Kulturni Centar Osijek, Marche Teatro – Teatro delle Muse, Frentania Teatri and KIC Budo Tomović.

These emerging international partnerships reflect the company’s ambition to establish lasting relationships with theatres, festivals, producers, cultural institutions and international presenters.

Beyond stage performances, KLS Human Ensemble is committed to developing educational and community engagement initiatives, including workshops, artist–audience discussions, masterclasses and cultural exchanges.

These activities seek to encourage dialogue between artistic practices, generations and cultures, extending the impact of choreographic creation beyond the stage.

Bringing South Pacific Choreographic Creation to the World

Through its artistic commitment, KLS Human Ensemble is guided by a fundamental conviction: choreographic creation originating in New Caledonia can find its place on international stages while preserving its distinctive cultural identity, sensitivity and artistic voice.

Driven by movement, emotion and human connection, the company seeks to build bridges between territories, cultures and generations.

KLS Human Ensemble embraces dance as a universal language — one capable of reflecting our times, questioning our shared humanity and bringing people together beyond borders.
